This place is already world famous for being the origin of one of holiest rivers in India, Ganga. It is also one of the four char dham pilgrimage site and is an important place of faith and devotion. History of Ganga turning into a river to wash the sins of king Bhagirathi’s father is still discussed by the elders of the place.
