With the diversity of flora and fauna Uttarakhand has the rich composite of nature’s creation. From the stretch of dense forest to the myriad of biodiversity, there’s lot more to dive into this hemisphere. The assortment of vast species to the amalgam of endangered organisms they are under the protection of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Uttarakhand having pride for its gigantic list of flora and fauna has the rich floral reserve that can be observed at Valley of flowers, Nanda Devi Biosphere, Corbett National Park, Rajaji National Park, Govind Pashu Vihar, etc. And the rich vegetation here has been divided into evergreen zone, alpine zone, Himalayan zone, temperate zone and sub-tropical zone.
Fauna
Considering the fauna the state has the inclusion of hundreds of species varying in mammals, reptiles, birds, fishes and amphibians, etc. the not so common species which are fewer in number can be also evidenced at the forest of Uttarakhand and they constitute of Asian Elephant, Snow Leopard, King Cobra, Musk Deer, Himalayan Monal, Cheer Pheasant, etc. And in order to protect such vast natural resources there are array of protected areas which constitute of six national park and six wildlife sanctuaries.
Flora
Buransh, an all season growing tree is found at the highest altitude of 1500 to 3600 meters in Himalayan range. A beautiful blooming flower from tree which fetches medicinal essence in it, the extensive flora and species ranges are around 350 in varieties holding intensively immense relevance for its aromatic fragrance in perfumes and spa, for commercially sold products such as in toothpaste, soaps, etc. And the commendable medicinal values of it are regardless of introduction. While there are several species of trees which are at the verge of extinction or our endangered where some of the prominent names are Aceraceae, Wooddia Andersonii, Woodsia, Cyaloba.
