Often termed as the Switzerland of India, this picturesque hill station lies on the approach to snow crested panchchuli, Nanda Devi, nandkot and trishul peaks and has a natural splendor that is hard to match by any other place in the area. It is widely famous for its breathtaking 300 km wide panoramic view of the great Himalayas. Situated at a height of 1890 meter above the sea level and is located 51 kms from almora. During freedom struggle Mahatma Gandhi stayed in kausani for two weeks and scripted his book Anasakti yoga in Anasakti ashram and was deeply impressed by the natural aura of the place.
Among famous places to visit around the kausani area are Rudradhari falls and caves located 12kms away and situated on the trekking way to Adi Kailash region, Gwaldham is further 18 kms away and looks like a sleepy town from folklores, the trekking to Pinnath starts at about 5kms from Kausani and goes till 16km of pure untouched wilderness. Apart from Anasakti ashram there are numerous holy places to visit like the Baijnath temple, the Someshwar temple and laxmi ashram.
Reaching kausani is fairly simple as it is connected by multiple modes of travel. Nearest airport being Pantnagar airport which 178 kms away is connected to Kausani via private taxis. Kathgodam railway station is the nearest station at 141 kms where climb to Kausani begins
Anashakti ashram- in anashakti ashram mahatma gandhi spent a few of his last days here, and compliments the serenic beauty and peace of this place; he even wrote about his experience here in his diary. As of now this place is open for visitors, researchers.
Rudrakshi falls- The Rudrakshi waterfall, which is surrounded by beautiful green trees, is the most captivating site in Kausani. Additionally, there are a few caves there that may be seen from a distance.
Kausani tea estate- if you are a tea lover then kausani tea estate, you can visit as they grew so many different varieties of tea plant there, the best time to visit this place is from june to september to see the greenery and plants growing here. Tea grown here is also exported to other countries too.

There are no direct public transport routes from Delhi to Kausani, therefore you must first travel through Nainital or Haldwani in order to take local transit to Kausani. The bus ride will take approximately 10 hours.
Most convenient will be to take a train from Delhi to Kathgodam, from where you may travel to Kausani via any local means of transportation.
